This frittata is a light, fluffy, and flavorful dish featuring tender spinach, sweet bell peppers, and creamy Havarti cheese. Cooking it in the air fryer gives a perfectly set, lightly browned exterior while keeping the inside soft and custardy. This recipe serves 2–3 as a main dish or 4 as a side.
Ingredients:
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk or cream
- 1/2 cup Havarti cheese, grated or cubed
- 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
- 1/2 cup red bell pepper, finely diced
- 1/4 cup onion, finely diced (optional)
- 1 teaspoon olive oil or butter
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional garnish: fresh herbs such as chives, parsley, or basil
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Vegetables
- Heat a small skillet over medium heat and add 1 teaspoon olive oil or butter.
- Sauté the diced bell pepper and onion (if using) for 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.
- Add the chopped spinach and cook for another 1–2 minutes until wilted.
- Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
2. Prepare the Egg Mixture
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk or cream, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined and slightly frothy.
- Stir in the cooked vegetables and the Havarti cheese.
3. Preheat the Air Fryer
- Preheat your air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- Use an air fryer-safe pan, silicone dish, or small cast-iron skillet that fits comfortably in your air fryer basket. Lightly grease it with cooking spray or a little oil.
4. Cook the Frittata
- Pour the egg, vegetable, and cheese mixture into the prepared pan.
- Place the pan in the air fryer basket and cook at 320°F (160°C) for 12–15 minutes.
- Check for doneness: the frittata should be set in the center, lightly golden on top, and a knife inserted in the center should come out clean.
- Optional: For a slightly browned top, increase the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and cook for an additional 2–3 minutes.
5. Serve
- Let the frittata cool for 1–2 minutes before slicing.
- Garnish with fresh herbs, extra cheese, or a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
- Serve warm as a breakfast, brunch, or light dinner.
Tips for Perfect Air Fryer Frittata
- Even cooking: Make sure the air fryer-safe pan is not too deep, or the frittata may cook unevenly.
- Cheese choice: Havarti melts beautifully, but you can substitute with Gruyère, mozzarella, or cheddar.
- Add-ins: Mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, or cooked bacon/ham can be added for variety.
- Do not overcrowd: Avoid adding too many vegetables, which can release excess moisture and prevent proper setting.
- Storage: Leftover frittata can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes to restore texture.
