  • ¼ cup tomatoes, deseeded and finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sweet corn (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olives or jalapeños (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano

Preparation Steps

Step 1: Prepare the Pizza Sauce

  1. Heat olive oil in a small pan over low heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for a few seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add pizza sauce or tomato ketchup and stir well.
  4. Season with dried oregano, dried basil, black pepper, and salt.
  5. Cook for 2–3 minutes on low heat until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Turn off the heat and set the sauce aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Toppings

  1. Chop all vegetables finely so they cook quickly on the tawa.
  2. Grate the mozzarella cheese and keep it ready.
  3. Keep chili flakes and dried oregano aside for seasoning.

Cooking Instructions

Step 3: Toast the Pizza Base

  1. Heat a tawa or non-stick flat pan on low to medium heat.
  2. Add a little butter or oil and spread it evenly.
  3. Place the pizza base or bread slices on the tawa.
  4. Toast lightly from one side until golden and crisp.
  5. Remove from heat and keep the toasted side facing down.

Step 4: Assemble the Mini Pizzas

  1. Spread a generous layer of prepared pizza sauce on the untoasted side of the base.
  2. Sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  3. Add chopped onions, capsicum, tomatoes, corn, olives, or jalapeños as desired.
  4. Sprinkle chili flakes and dried oregano on top.

Step 5: Cook the Mini Tawa Pizzas

  1. Heat the tawa again on very low flame.
  2. Place the assembled pizzas on the tawa.
  3. Cover the tawa with a tight-fitting lid to trap heat and help the cheese melt evenly.
  4. Cook for 6–8 minutes on low heat until the cheese melts completely and the base becomes crisp.
  5. Check occasionally to ensure the base does not burn. Adjust the flame as needed.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve the mini tawa pizzas hot, straight from the pan.
  • Pair with tomato ketchup, chili sauce, or garlic dip.
  • Garnish with fresh basil or coriander leaves if available.

Tips and Variations

  • Use whole wheat bread or multigrain bases for a healthier version.
  • For a non-vegetarian option, add cooked chicken, sausage, or pepperoni slices.
  • Add a layer of butter or garlic butter on the base before adding sauce for extra flavor.
  • Always cook on low flame to prevent burning and ensure even melting of cheese.
  • If the cheese is not melting, sprinkle a few drops of water on the sides of the tawa and cover quickly to create steam.

Storage and Reheating

  • Mini tawa pizzas are best enjoyed fresh.
  • If needed, store leftover toppings separately in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.
  • Reheat assembled pizzas on a tawa over low heat until warm and cheese melts again.
