Equipment Needed

  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife and chopping board
  • Frying pan or grill
  • Spatula
  • Oven tray (optional, for buns)

Preparation Method

Step 1: Make the Chicken Patties

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, minced garlic, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4–6 equal portions and shape each into a patty slightly larger than the burger buns.
  4. Chill the patties in the fridge for 10–15 minutes to help them hold together while cooking.

Step 2: Cook the Bacon

  1. In a frying pan over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crisp.
  2. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess fat.

Step 3: Cook the Chicken Patties

  1. Heat a little olive oil or cooking spray in the same pan over medium heat.
  2. Cook the chicken patties for 5–6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 75°C / 165°F).
  3. If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last 1–2 minutes of cooking to melt.

Step 4: Prepare the Burger Buns

  1. Slice the burger buns in half and toast lightly on a grill, pan, or in the oven for a few minutes.

Step 5: Assemble the Burgers

  1. Spread mayonnaise, mustard, or your preferred sauce on the bun halves.
  2. Layer lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion on the bottom bun.
  3. Place the cooked chicken patty on top.
  4. Add crispy bacon and optional toppings such as pickles or avocado.
  5. Cover with the top bun and serve immediately.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve with sweet potato fries, oven-baked potato wedges, or a side salad.
  • Pair with a light coleslaw or pickled vegetables to balance the richness.
  • Works well for meal prep by cooking patties in advance and assembling fresh before serving.

Tips and Variations

  • Add herbs like parsley, thyme, or coriander to the chicken mixture for extra flavor.
  • Use whole-grain or gluten-free buns for a healthier option.
  • For a spicier burger, mix chili powder or cayenne into the chicken patties.
  • Chicken thighs can be minced instead of breast for juicier patties.
  • Make it a low-carb option by wrapping the patty and bacon in lettuce instead of a bun.
